Following its successful trailer and poster launch at Cannes, Odia film T which is based on the life of transgender Meghna Sahoo, has bagged top honours at India International Film Festival of Boston (IIFFB), USA.

Odia cine lovers will be happy to know that the movie was nominated in three categories such as Best Actor (male), Best Director and Best Film. Now it has won Best Actor and Best Feature Film on LGBTQ awards.

Best Actor award went to veteran actor Debasish Sahu for his brilliant portrayal of a transgender woman. 

Prior to IIFFB, the film had won four awards at international film festivals like Sweden Film Awards, Fox International film festival Rome, Stockholm international film festival, Golden Lemur film festival Portugal.

The trailer and poster of social film ‘T’ was released at the India pavilion during the ongoing 75th Cannes Film Festival. 

The plot of the movie is based on the real-life story of Meghna Sahoo, who became India’s first transgender cab driver. It highlights her struggle to help each and every one of the transgender community to make them self-sufficient. 

Overwhelmed with the success of T, its director Jitesh Kumar Parida says, “I am thrilled by the response to our trailer and poster received at the most prestigious film festival. The film is very special as I feel stories like Meghna’s need to be told and should be known by all. She is an inspiration for her community and for all of us. I hope we are able to do justice to the film. We are planning to release the film in theatres soon.”

Lead actor Debasish said “I am extremely happy that we are getting awards in international platforms where Odia film has been appreciated. Winning the best actor award means a lot to me. There was a huge competition in the festivals. From nomination to winning is always be cherished. I am thankful to my director Jitesh Parida and my entire team.”
