Not Allu Arjun, Mahesh Babu was director Sukumar’s first choice for Pushpa

Stylish star Allu Arjun created history after he was declared the first Telugu actor to win the National Film Awards for Best Actor for his portrayal of Pushpa. The 2021 blockbuster directed by Sukumar is one of the most loved films and fans are eagerly waiting for the second part of the movie.

Allu Arjun is winning accolades for his incredible performance. His dialogue delivery, style, dance, and everything has become a trend and craze among fans. The movie is also winning awards after awards.

But as much as shocking it may sound, Allu Arjun wasn’t the first choice for the film. Yes, you read that right! Director Sukumar had written the film keeping the dashing Mahesh Babu in mind and wanted the Prince of Tollywood to play the titular role of Pushpa.

However, the Bharat Ane Nenu actor opted out of the movie due to creative differences with the director. He had also tweeted, “Due to creative differences, my film with Sukumar is not happening. I wish him all the best on the announcement of his new project. Respect always for a filmmaker par excellence. 1 Nenokkadine will remain a cult classic. Enjoyed every moment working on that film.”

Now after Allu Arjun’s National Award win, this old tweet of Mahesh Babu is again going viral with fans wondering if the ‘Pokiri’ actor could have done justice to the role of Pushpa.

Many fans are of the opinion that nobody could have played Pushpa better than Allu Arjun.

“Not sure how it would’ve worked out. But Pushpa is what it is because of Allu Arjun,” commented a fan.

Another user wrote, “Maybe it was for the best of everyone. Allu Arjun pulled the role of Pushpa like a pro. It would not have been a great fit for Mahesh Babu with his subtle acting, but would have been really interesting to see him in this kind of a role.”
