No more Aashiqui! Kartik Aaryan's flick to go on floors soon! Anurag Basu says, 'Triptii Dimri is still...'
Aashiqui 3 has been one of the most talked about projects in recent times. The romantic drama announced a few years ago hit roadblocks due to the legal battle over 'Aashiqui' title. Meanwhile, the romantic drama to be helmed by Anurag Basu, starring Kartik Aaryan in the lead is being referred to as Aashiqui 3 and has been in the pipeline for quite some time now. However, recently Basu revealed details about the romantic drama. He confirmed that the movie will go on floors soon and clarified that the title will not have 'Aashiqui'. The Barfi director also talked about Triptii Dimri, who was supposed to play the female lead.
Recently, Anurag Basu shared his excitement to collaborate with Koki for the first time. Further, he revealed his plans to take the film on floors soon. The filmmaker also confirmed that the film is currently in the initial stages.
"We have not started the shooting yet. We will start the shoot next month," ANI quoted Basu.
While the makers are all set to go on floors soon, they haven't yet announced the female lead for the highly-anticipated film.
According to earlier reports, Triptii Dimri was locked to play the female lead. However, last month Triptii was dropped from the project. Soon after that reports surfaced that the Animal actress was removed for 'lacking innocence' and had become 'too exposed' for the role. Later, Basu dismissed the rumours.
Recently, while talking to the Hindustan Times, Basu once again talked about Triptii. He said that the Bad Newz actress is his 'best friend'. While mentioning that the important thing was dates, he said Triptii should be asked why she left the film.
Basu said, "Image was not the reason. I am the last person to judge an actor on the basis of the other characters they have played on screen."
Further, he added, "The most important thing is dates. Triptii is shooting for a film with Vishal Bhardwaj, and my film goes on the floor this month too. She is still my best friend. I really like her as an actress."
Further, he also clarified that Aashiqui was not even the story anymore.
"I don't know what's the film called right now, the shoot starts this month. We have not finalised the female lead right now, it will be announced in a week," added Basu.
