Nitesh Kumar Sahoo

Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana is one of the most talked about projects in the industry. Reportedly, Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi will be essaying the roles of Lord Rama and Devi Sita respectively. Sunny Deol and Yash have been roped in to play Lord Hanuman and Demon King Ravana, while Lara Dutta and Rakul Preet Singh will be seen as Queen Kaikeyi and Shrupanakha, respectively.

While speculations are rife that Vijay Sethupathi and Amitabh Bachchan might be seen in pivotal roles, the makers are yet to raise the curtains. As per earlier reports, the first part of the planned trilogy of the cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic will go on the floors in March. The makers have planned to kickstart shooting this month and will wrap up between July, before moving to the post-production phase with a target for releasing it in Diwali 2025.

However, fans are eagerly waiting for an official announcement from the makers. But, it seems, the makers will soon end all speculations and make the official announcement regarding the cast and all other things.

According to a recent report in Pinkvilla, the makers will officially announce the making of the epic tale. If the reports are anything to go by, Nitesh Tiwari and the team will make the official announcement of Ramayana on Ram Navami this year in April. A close source was quoted as saying, "Ramayana will be announced on April 17, 2024, on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami."

Further, the source added that the makers are going ahead with a planned move to bring out their official communication on the birth anniversary of Lord Ram.

"There is no better date than Ram Navami to make an official announcement on Ramayana's cast, crew, and release plans. It's the most ambitious film of Indian cinema and the team is making all efforts to bring it to the spectacle in the most authentic manner," he added.

The close source concluded saying, "The team has spent over 5 years in pre-production work to get the script and visuals in place. And now, it's time to execute all that was planned."

Earlier reports claimed that the lead actors underwent multiple look tests, pre-visualisation, and tech rehearsals in Mumbai and LA. If everything goes as per plans, Ramayana will be released during the Diwali 2025 weekend. However, the movie being VFX-heavy, the makers are being double sure before committing anything. As claimed, the movie will be the most technically advanced feature film of Indian cinema. A dedicated team of 500 VFX artists will exclusively work on Ramayana for 500 days, starting in July.
