2001's Hindi movie 'Nayak: The Real Hero', starring Anil Kapoor and Rani Mukerji in the lead, emerged as a blockbuster of the year. Over time, the movie has achieved a cult status and moviegoers continue to love the movie even after years. After 23 years, reports are abuzz that filmmaker Siddharth Anand is all set to come up with a sequel to the movie. The recent buzz suggests that the plot for Nayak 2 has finally been cracked.

As per the latest reports, the movie will be produced by Siddharth Anand and his wife Mamta under their banner 'Marflix Pictures.' Much like the original movie, the sequel will also be set against the backdrop of politics.

As per the latest reports, Milan Luthria will helm the movie while Rajat Arora has been roped in as the writer.

Pinkvilla quoted a close source to the development as saying, "Siddarth Anand has got back the writer-director Jodi of Milan and Rajat together for Nayak 2 and he is excited to embark on the journey of making a one-of-a-kind vigilante-based action entertainer. All the action sequences aside, Nayak 2 is a dialogue and drama-heavy film and the casting is underway. A top A-Lister is expected to come on board the film."

If the reports are anything to go by, Nayak 2 will go on floors in 2nd half of 2024.

Well, an official confirmation backing the claims is awaited from the makers. However, the development will certainly excite the moviegoers regarding the lead actor.

Notably, Nayak: The Real Hero proved to be a milestone in Anil Kapoor's career.

The flick was a Hindi remake of the Tamil blockbuster Mudhalvan. Helmed by S Shankar, the movie was produced by A M Rathnam.

Earlier, a report in Hindustan Times claimed that Jayantilal Gada of Pen India Pvt. Ltd was all set to make Nayak Returns with Anil Kapoor being roped in, as the protagonist once again. Moreover, Gada also claimed that the film will have a new subject throwing some light on social issues. And, it won't be a prequel or sequel to its first installment. The character that Anil will play, however, will be similar to his previous role as Shivaji Rao. But, the project never happened for undisclosed reasons.
