National Awards 2024: Yash's KGF Chapter 2 wins Best Kannada Film, Ranbir-Alia's Brahmastra wins big!
The winners of the 70th National Film Awards were announced today on August 16, 2024, in Delhi. The awards were announced for Feature and Non-Feature films certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) which were released between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022.
Rocking Star Yash's KGF: Chapter 2 emerged victorious and won awards in the Best Kannada Film and Best Action Direction categories, in the feature films sections. Director Prashanth Neel and Hombale Films won the award for the best film while Anbariv won the Best Action Direction Award.
Yash aka Rocky Bhai took to social media and expressed his joy after the big win. Apart from congratulating all the National Award winners, he made a special mention of his director, Kantara actor Rishab Shetty and Hombale Films through his social media post.
His post read, "Heartiest congratulations to all the winners of the National Awards. A special shoutout to our very own @shetty_rishab, @VKiragandur, Prashanth Neel and the entire @hombalefilms team for the well-deserved recognition for Kantara and KGF 2. Here's to many more heights. On the other hand, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Brahmastra: Part One- Shiva made it big at the National Awards under music categories.
The Ayan Mukerji directorial won awards for Best Music Direction and Best Male Playback Singer. Moreover, it also bagged awards under the Best Film in the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) categories. Following the film's success at the National Awards, Ayan expressed immense joy and gratitude.
Composer Pritam Chakraborty won his first National Film Award for Brahmastra. Winning the National Award after composing music for more than 125 movies in his career spanning over two decades, Pritam expressed his happiness. Talking to Hindustan Times, Pritam said, "This feels so special. I am so grateful to the jury.”
Meanwhile, singer Arijit Singh bagged a National Award for Best Singer for the song Kesariya.
Movie lovers are well aware that after KGF: Chapter 2, the makers have KGF: Chapter 3 on cards. While much about the third instalment of KGF is not known, fans are hopeful that the makers will make an announcement soon. While Yash is busy with Toxic and Ramayana, Neel is busy with Prabhas' Salaar and has Jr NTR's NTR31lined up. KGF 3 will possibly start after that. However, fans need to wait for an official announcement.
On the other hand, after Brahmastra: Part One- Shiva, Ayan has lined up Part 2: Dev and Part 3. It was earlier announced that part two and part 3 will be released in December 2026 and December 2027 respectively. However, the makers haven't released any further updates.
