Mukesh Khanna to return as Shaktimaan but...
The official confirmation of the Shaktimaan trilogy for the big screens created significant hype. Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna, who played the role of the first Indian superhero on the small screen, earlier confirmed that the trilogy will be made meeting international standards. However, it's been around two years but the makers haven't yet announced the lead actor to play Shaktimaan. While there have been no updates on the trilogy, according to a recent report, Mukesh Khanna is set to return as Shaktimaan. But wait, it's not for the trilogy.
Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna will make a comeback as the most beloved Indian superhero Shaktimaan. But, this time it will be for an audio series.
Notably, the legacy of Shaktimaan is being reimagined by PocketFM with an all-new original audio series. Khanna will reprise his iconic role of Shaktimaan, but only through voice.
If the reports are anything to go by, the audience will only be able to hear their favourite Shaktimaan's voice.
Talking about the audio series, Khanna said that the show will bring original stories of Shaktimaan in an audio series format.
Khanna said, "Shaktimaan isn't just a show, it's an emotion that lives in the hearts of millions."
Further, talking about the audio series, Khanna said that he is 'thrilled to return as the voice of the beloved hero and connect with a whole new generation of listeners."
The veteran actor also said that the platform offers a great way to reintroduce Shaktimaan's values, strength and superpowers, but with new tales to today's youth in a format they love."
Almost two years ago, Mukesh Khanna confirmed that the contract was signed. Bankrolled by Sony Pictures International Productions, the budget of each movie of the Shaktimaan trilogy would be Rs 200-300 crore. Since the announcement, names of several actors have popped up to play the superhero's role.
While various reports claimed that Ranveer Singh might step into the shoes of the iconic superhero, Khanna cleared the air. Later, Singh even visited Khanna's office multiple times reportedly trying to persuade the veteran actor to consider him for the lead role. However, Khanna was steadfast in his decision. Later, while sharing his review of Tollywood Icon Star Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule, Khanna said Bunny can become Shaktimaan. Khanna praised his performance as Pushparaj and said he is good-looking in real life, has a good height and can be considered for Shaktimaan.
Meanwhile, the interest of the audience seems to be waning due to the prolonged delay in the next official announcement. Fans can only hope for an official announcement from the makers about the Shaktimaan trilogy.
