Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2: Kartik Aaryan-Varun Dhawan to replace Akshay Kumar-Salman Khan in sequel?
2004's rom-com flick Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, starring Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra released to positive reviews. Helmed by David Dhawan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the movie remains one of the most loved movies. According to a recent report, the makers are planning for a sequel to Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and it is currently in the scripting stage. Well, a fresh buzz suggests that Varun Dhawan and Kartik Aaryan will likely be replacing Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar.
According to a report by News18, producer Sajid Nadiadwala is backing Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2.
An insider revealed to the portal that the producer is keen on recreating the comedy and chaos of the original but with a contemporary twist.
The source was quoted as saying, "Kartik and Varun are known for their comic timing, and are frontrunners for the roles. Together, they could be a riot on screen. But the scripting has only begun, and Sajid will take a call on the casting after he is satisfied with the script."
Further, he added, "Aligning Kartik and Varun’s dates will be tough, given their busy date diaries. The makers are aiming for a late 2026 release."
Notably, Kartik Aaryan earlier replaced Akshay Kumar in the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise. Even Koki had almost come on board for Farhad Samji's Hera Pheri 3 while Akki had turned down the offer. Moreover, fans believe that the Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 actor imitates the acting style of the Sky Force actor, particularly in comic roles. Additionally, Koki himself acknowledged the comparisons and stated that he is a fan of Akki. Given all these, Koki could justify replacing Akki in the sequel.
On the other hand, Varun Dhawan has already worked in Judwaa 2 (2017), which was a remake of Salman Khan's Judwa (1997). The remake of the action-comedy performed well at the box office. Based on this, Varun could once again step into the shoes of Salman and justify the character.
Well, fans have to wait until an official announcement from the makers regarding the development.
