Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt made her Met Gala debut at the event honouring the iconic fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld.
Alia Bhatt made a dreamy entry at her first-ever Met Gala on Monday, hitting the 2023 event’s red carpet wearing an elegant pearl gown by Prabal Gurung.
Alia looked like a princess straight out of fairytale as she stepped on the red-carpet in a pure white princess bride gown.
Alia’s gown featured a long dramatic train and with every inch of its bodice drenched in pearls. The plunging neckline of her attire added to the oomph quotient. She rounded off her look with a white fingerless glove which a signature element of the late German designer, Karl Lagerfeld.
For her accessories, Alia kept in minimal with a pair of white earrings featuring pear and spikes and a matching ring.
Alia opted for a minimal make-up with a smoky eye and nude lips. She styled the look with her hair clipped back with a bow of pearls that cascaded in easy beach waves.
Sharing her picture from the fashion extravaganza, Alia wrote, “Met Gala — Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty."
"I have always been fascinated by the iconic Chanel brides. Season after season, the genius of Karl Lagerfeld shone through in the most innovative and awe-inspiring couture. My look tonight was inspired from this and in particular by supermodel Claudia Schiffer’s 1992 Chanel bridal look.
I wanted to do something that felt authentic (hello, pearls!) and proudly made in India. The embroidery, made with a 100,000 pearls is a labour of love by @prabalgurung. I’m so proud to wear you for my first Met.
A girl can never have too many pearls… and the right accessories to complement the look which in our case translated to the bow of pearls on my hair. Oh, and it’s white, for my Choup-ED.”
Apart from, Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra also made an elegant appearance at the event as she twinned in black outfits with her husband and singer Nick Jonas.
For the event, Priyanka wore a black Valentino dress and opted for an 11.6-carat diamond necklace. Nick wore a white shirt, black pants, a tie and a jacket. The couple posed on the red carpet and also smiled looking at each other.
Organised each year, the Met Gala, also known as the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute benefit, is a fashion extravaganza. The mega event happens in order to raise money for the Costume Institute, the museum’s collection of fashion objects.
The Met Gala is held on the first Monday in May every year. The fashion extravaganza has some of the world's biggest names in culture and politics walking down the red carpet.
