Meena Kumari biopic: Shocking facts of Tragedy Queen's life to be included?

Meena Kumari, the Bollywood queen of the 50s, is to date considered one of the most extraordinary and iconic actresses ever to dazzle on the Indian silver screen. Unfortunately, the highly talented actress who mostly performed tragic roles on the screen also led a very sad and sorrowful life, and her end was very painful.

Currently, there is a strong buzz that a biopic is being made on the life of Meena Kumari in which her marriage with Kamal Amrohi will also be highlighted in a big way. Director Siddharth Malhotra is slated to direct the biopic Kamal and Meena. Speculations are adrift that  Kiara Advani  has been roped in to play the lead role of the tragedy queen. But the question is whether the makers will just showcase the lovey-dovey romance of Meena Kumari and Kamal Amrohi or their marital struggles which also included domestic abuse, violence, and heart-wrenching, pathological moments.

Years ago it was another iconic Bollywood actress Nargis who had revealed the tumultuous life of her dear friend Meena after her death. As is known the Mere Apne actress died at the very young age of 38 years due to liver damage caused by her heavy alcohol drinking.

And this addiction was more or less caused due to her failed marriage and the humiliating treatment that she received from her husband. It should be noted that Kamal was already a married man with kids when he married Meena Kumari who was at the peak of her career then. So when Meenaji died, Nargis said, “Meena Kumari maut mubarak ho.”

During her interview, the Shri 420 actress revealed how she once saw Meena Kumar panting in a garden and when asked to rest, the latter said that taking rest is not in her destiny. Nargis  said, “That night there was noise of violence from her room. The next day I saw her eyes were swollen. The next day I caught hold of Kamal Amrohi's secretary Baqar and spoke to him in direct terms, “Why do you people want to kill Meena? She has worked enough for your sake. For how long is she going to feed you?”

Many such revelations from different sources have been included in the biography of Meena Kumari by Vinod Mehta. Naturally, fans of the yesteryear actress want these real facts to be showcased on the screen instead of only the romantic side and glamourous life of the famous actress.
