Matthew Perry, widely recognized for his iconic role as Chandler Bing in the beloved sitcom Friends, passed away on Saturday at the age of 54.

According to the Los Angeles Times, law enforcement sources were quoted saying that, “First responders found Perry unconscious in a hot tub at his house and were unable to revive him.”

The actor's death has sent shockwaves through fans, prompting an outpouring of heartfelt tributes across social media.


In a chilling twist, Perry's final Instagram post has gained considerable attention due to its eerie connection to his untimely demise.

Just five days before his passing, the actor shared a photo of himself relaxing in his hot tub – the very same place where he was later discovered unresponsive by the Los Angeles police. 

In the photo, Perry had captioned it with a hint of humor, saying, "Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I'm Mattman."

Social media was abuzz with reactions to this startling connection. Users on Twitter expressed their shock and sorrow, with one commenting, "This was his post 5 days ago, and as per reports, this is exactly where he drowned. His hot tub. Gutted!!!" 

Another user noted, "Matthew Perry's last Instagram post is a photo of him in his hot tub/pool/jacuzzi. How very, very sad."

Matthew Perry, an American-Canadian actor, comedian, and producer, rose to international stardom for his portrayal of Chandler Bing in Friends, one of the show's six main characters. The beloved sitcom ran for a decade, from 1994 to 2004, and earned Perry a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in 2002.

Perry also reunited with his fellow cast members for Friends: The Reunion, a special episode that brought back the iconic ensemble of Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer, alongside Perry himself. 

This emotional 104-minute special aired on HBO Max in May 2021, delighting fans and celebrating the enduring legacy of the show and its remarkable cast.
