Actress Mallika Sherawat is back in the headlines with her comeback to the film industry. After a hiatus, Mallika made her comeback with 'Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video,' also starring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri. Recently, the Welcome actress was all over the media after she revealed about getting harassed by the lead actor of a 'superhit multi-starrer' flick. Now, the actress has opened up about being considered a 'bojh' by her parents. She also revealed how Emraan Hashmi and Mahesh Bhatt made her feel safe while shooting bold scenes in Murder.

'Pariwaar mein maatam chaa gaya...'

Opening up about her challenging childhood, Mallika said that when she was born, her mother went into depression. Her entire family was sad about her arrival. 

During an interview with Hauterrfly, Mallika said, "When I was born, mere pariwaar mein maatam chhaa gaya tha. My mother, I am sure, went into depression, poor thing."

Further talking about the deeply rooted patriarchal mindset of her family, who viewed daughters as a burden, Mallika said, "Parivaar ki saari sampatti ladke ko jaayegi, pote ko jaayegi. Ladkiyon ka kya hai? They will get married; they are a liability, ek bojh hai.”

She also talked about her journey without the support of her family and said that neither of her parents stood by her.

'Felt safe while doing bold scenes for Mahesh Bhatt and Emraan Hashmi...'

Murder was a breakthrough movie for Mallika Sherawat. During the interview, she expressed gratitude to filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt for offering her a role that shaped her career. She also said that at first she 'felt uncomfortable' while doing the bold scenes. But, Emraan Hashmi and Mahesh Bhatt made her feel comfortable and safe. 

Mallika said, "All girls are very safe on his set. I felt very safe even doing those bold scenes in Murder. Of course, one feels a little uncomfortable because there are so many people from the unit. But both Bhatt Sahab and Emraan Hashmi made me very comfortable. Emraan was an absolute gentleman.”
