Madalsa Sharma aka Kavya exits 'Anupamaa'; says character no longer engaging

Madalsa Sharma, who portrayed Kavya in the hit TV show ‘Anupamaa’, has announced her departure from the series.

Sharma explained that her decision to leave was not impulsive but had been considered for some time, reported Times of India. She felt her character lacked the "spice or spark" it once had.

Sharma reflected on her role, noting that when the show premiered in 2020, the primary characters were Anupama (Rupali Ganguly), Vanraj (Sudhanshu Pandey), and Kavya. Initially portrayed as an independent and strong woman who pursued a married man, Kavya's character had significant growth. However, Sharma felt that the storyline had moved beyond her character in the past year.

The actress, who has been married to Mimoh Chakraborty for six years, mentioned that her family, including her father-in-law Mithun Chakraborty, supported her decision to explore new opportunities. Sharma and producer Rajan Shahi mutually agreed it was best for her to move on.

Sharma's exit follows the recent departure of Sudhanshu Pandey, who played Vanraj. Pandey had announced on Instagram that he would no longer be part of ‘Anupamaa’ and would pursue various new roles, asking for continued support from fans.
