Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the longest-running shows in the history of Indian television. While the comedy serial continues to entertain the audience even after 13 years, there have been times when it faced a few major setbacks as its leading actors decided to take a break or leave the show.
Neha Mehta, who played the role of Anjali Mehta in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah for more than a decade, was replaced last year by Sunayna Fouzdar.
Allegedly, the actress was not happy with the payment and also with the treatment she was getting from the makers. Neha went on to say that she had to accept it the way it was or leave the show and she opted for the second option.
The exit of Bhavya Gandhi from the show was much-talked-about because he was the real Tappu, the leader of Tappu sena which is an integral part of TMKOC and its Gokuldham.
Bhavya literally grew up on the show and fans simply could not imagine that anyone can replace him. But he decided to take a break to pursue better career prospects and since then he worked in a few Gujarati movies. Raj Anadkat now plays the role of Tappu in the serial.
Gurucharan Singh, who made the flamboyant Sodhi iconic, left the show last year because of various reasons. Earlier, it was reported that he left the show to take care of his ailing father. But his latest interview indicates that there must have been some issues related to payment. Balvinder Singh Suri has replaced him on TMKOC.
Jheel Mehta first played the very young Sonu in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. She left the show to pursue her career and education and was replaced by Nidhi Bhanushali for a few years. Nidhi also left the show for personal reasons.
Disha Vakani, who played the most iconic Dayaben on TMKOC, took a break from the comedy serial more than three years ago and has not yet returned.
Speculations are riot that soon she will be replaced with another actress. However, nothing has been confirmed by the makers as of yet.
