Veteran director Subhash Ghai has wrapped up the script for 'Khalnayak 2', a sequel to his 1993 blockbuster starring Sanjay Dutt, as per latest reports. While details remain sparse on Dutt's involvement in the sequel, Ghai is actively seeking fresh talent to portray the iconic character of Ballu Balram.

As per IndiaToday.in report, a source close to Subhash Ghai revealed that the director has already finished the scripting of the film.

Reportedly, Ghai is considering a pool of young and dynamic actors, both from Bollywood and the South film industry, to step into the shoes of Ballu Balram. Names like Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Allu Arjun, and Yash are reportedly on Ghai's radar. The director is keen on finding someone who can carry forward the legacy of the character with aplomb.

"Subhash Ghai wants to approach actors like Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor for the character of Ballu Balram. In fact, he isn’t sticking to just Bollywood. Allu Arjun and Yash are also on his list and he wants to approach them as well. He just wants someone who would be able to take the legacy of Ballu Balaram forward," added the source.

'Khalnayak', which starred Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, and Anupam Kher, celebrated its 30th anniversary last year. Despite controversies surrounding its release, the film left a lasting impact on audiences. The iconic song 'Choli Ke Peechay Kya Hai' remains a chartbuster to this day and even made a reappearance in the 2024 film, 'Crew'.
