The Malayalam film industry is well known for creating content-based movies. However, the last few days have not been so good for Mollywood, especially after the shocking details of the Hema Committee left everyone shocked.

Shocking instances of harassment, exploitation, and mistreatment of female professionals in the film industry have caused a nationwide uproar. In the wake of numerous accusations and serious revelations, veteran actress Khushbu Sundar has voiced her opinion and said that she stands with all the victim women, both as a mother and a woman.

“It is time to clean up the rot,” the actress said as she revealed some shocking personal experiences.

“I would like to say that we people in the film industry are always looked upon with a magnifying glass. Sexual abuse against women, asking for sexual favours in return for some kind of work... happens on a day-to-day basis in every field, be it cinema, IT, politics, media,” the actress stated.

Sharing her personal experience about being harassed by her father, Khushbu said, “I dealt with it for almost 8 years. My abuse started when I was 8 and continued until I was 16. The minute I had the courage to stand up, my father left us.”

Revealing another incident about a popular producer, Khushbu said, “Faced this issue once when I had just started out in the South; a Telugu producer didn't come on to me directly, but he walked into my makeup room. He was trying to send a message that he was trying to look for some kind of favour. I removed my slipper and snapped back.”

She further stated, “The problem is that we have a very short memory. We speak about it today; we will forget about it two days later. What happens in the Malayalam film industry or to women across the world is forgotten.”

The veteran actress and former NCW member demanded that there is a need for Hema Committee report in every department where women work. She also maintained that not just women, but men too face sexual harassments and bear the brunt and called the rot to be cleaned up.
