Kartik Aaryan replaces Akshay Kumar as Raju in Hera Pheri 3! Here’s how netizens react

Movie lovers are eagerly waiting for the official announcement of the much-awaited Hera Pheri 3. A few days earlier, it was speculated that the makers will repeat the prime star cast from the first two installments, i.e. Akshay Kumar , Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal. However, the latest reports confirm that Kartik Aaryan has replaced Akshay in the 3rd installment as Raju.

As per earlier reports, Akshay and Firoz Nadiadwala have had multiple meetings over the last month to get everything in place for these projects. The idea was to revive the three franchises, including Hera Pheri, and bring back the Hindi cinema audience in a big way. As per a source close to the development, the Khiladi actor was all set to once again step into the shoes of his iconic characters like Raju from Hera Pheri. 

Apart from Hera Pheri, Akki was in talks with the maker to revive two more movies including Welcome and Awara Pagal Deewana. But, it seems, the talks have fizzled out as Akki was not convinced with the vision of the sequel concepts and their quality and he walked out.

However, as per the latest reports, Kartik has already come on board after the paperwork.

“Kartik Aaryan has signed the dotted lines to play the iconic role of Raju. Moreover, Kartik and Firoz are keen to sign Anees Bazmee as the director,” Pinkvilla quoted a close source as saying. 

The source further added that the third installment will reboot the franchise. Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal, who played the characters of Shyam and Babu Rao in the previous two installments, will reprise their role.

Even, Paresh confirmed Kartik replacing Akki in the third installment while responding to a fan’s query.

Well, this is the second time after a decade that the makers have fastened their seat belts to bring an end to the long wait. Earlier in 2012, the makers had announced Hera Pheri 3 and conducted a press meet. 

However, this didn’t go down well with many when it was learned that the makers had removed Akki from the franchise. Instead, they twisted the plot by introducing two ‘Raju’. Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham were roped in as Raju for the third installment giving a major twist. However, the plan was dropped following the resentment among fans. 

Now it seems, the makers will stick to the ‘twisted plot’ and will rope in another actor alongside Kartik.

If the latest reports are anything to go by, after Bhool Bhulaiyaa sequel, Hera Pheri 3 will be the second movie in which he replaced Akki. 

The latest reports have once again disheartened the fans and movie lovers who have memories of Hera Pheri and its sequel. Devastated by the announcement, netizens expressed their disappointment on social media. Besides, some also alleged that the Khiladi charged a whooping amount as his remuneration due to which the makers opted to rope in Kartik in his place.
