July 26, 2022 marks 23 years of Kargil Vijay Diwas. The war took place in 1999 between India and Pakistani infiltrators. Indian cinema has, since then, paid tributes to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for this country through many films and web series. 

On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, we have come up with some of the patriotic films and web series on the wars and our armed forces. Check the list below:

Shoorveer  

The fictionalised military drama centres on the union of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force to form an elite task force in India. Shoorveer depicts the story of stealthy operations, intense military training, air combat and intelligence subterfuge and above all of human relationships between our elite soldiers.
Shoorveer has an ensemble cast which includes stars like Makarand Deshpande, Manish Chaudhari, Regina Cassandra, Armaan Ralhan, Aadil Khan, Abhishek Saha, Anjali Barot, Kuldeep Sareen, Arif Zakaria, Faisal Rashid, Sahil Mehta, and Shivya Pathani.

Avrodh Season 2

This series is based on the book India’s Most Fearless written by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh. Directed by Raj Acharya, the series celebrates the heroism of heroes from the Indian Army. Some of the star cast who will be seen in season 2 include Anant Mahadevan, Aahana Kumra, Abir Chatterjee, Sanjay Suri, Mohan Agashe, and Vijay Krishnan.

Code M (Season 2)

Jennifer Winget as Major Monica is back with a bang! After a successful season 1, Code M is back with a season 2. An assassination attempt has been made on the Chief Minister of a state inside an Army base camp during the Kargil Day celebrations putting the officials in distress. Major Monica Mehra, who is recently promoted to military intelligence, is in charge of the investigation into the matter. As the story unfolds, Major Monica finds herself into a web of moral dilemmas, making for an interesting plot.

Shershaah

This biographical war action film is based on the 1999 Kargil war. The movie traces the life journey of Param Vir Chakra awardee and army captain Vikram Batra played by Sidharth Malhotra) who made the supreme sacrifice fighting for the motherland. It shows a war scene, similar to other films in the same genre, but leaves a grave impact on its viewers with brilliant performances by the actors.

Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl

The biopic on the life of the first Indian Air Force women pilot focuses on the struggle of Gunjan Saxena and her participation in the Kargil War. Janhvi Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, and Angad Bedi were in the lead of the movie

Major

Adivi Sesh's biographical drama Major managed to impress the audience greatly with his realistic portrayal of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan. The movie traces the life journey of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who lost his life in service during the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai in 2008.
