Popular filmmaker-director and producer Karan Johar finally opened up on his homosexuality and revealed how he pretended to be in love with a girl for a long time.

Speaking at ‘On the YouTube show Be A Man Yaar’, hosted by Nikhil Taneja, the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai director opened up about his past and his struggles.

“I was labelled as a ‘pansy’ in a demeaning manner, today what you guys call gay/fag/homo in derogatory way, it was called ‘pansy’ those days. And it was this word that literally had really pushed me into a shell,” revealed Johar.

“So, I pretended to be in love with a girl named ‘Shalaka’ in my Class X.”

Speaking about his journey, Karan revealed that Shah Rukh Khan was the first man who didn’t make him feel any lesser. He praised the Jawan actor for being by his side as an elder brother all through his life.

The two who share a great rapport has worked together in blockbuster movies like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and My Name is Khan and Kal Ho Naa Hoo. 

Recently, Karan Johar declared that he had seen the trailer of the century, hinting at Jawan’s trailer.

Taking to his Instagram stories, the filmmaker wrote, “I just saw the trailer of the century.”

The filmmaker’s recently-released movie Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani received appreciation from audience and critics alike and went on to become a hit at the box office.
