Hollywood star Johnny Depp is all set to wear the director’s hat for his upcoming movie ‘Modi’, a biopic on popular Italian painter and sculptor Amedeo Modigliani.

Some of the best names in the film industry are going to be part of the Depp-directorial. The film will feature Italian stars Riccardo Scamarcio and Pierre Niney. The legendary Al Pacino is all set to play a pivotal role in the movie.

Earlier, also Al Pacino had worked with Depp in the 1997 crime movie ‘Donnie Brasco.’ If reports are to be believed, the filming of the movie will begin in Budapest soon.

As per a report in Deadline, the film is based on a play written by Dennis McIntyre and will explore Modigliani’s time in Paris in 1916.

The movie will chronicle the life of Modi across a turbulent and eventful 48 hours which sees him on the run from police in war-torn Paris.

The ‘Modi’ biopic will be Depp’s second feature directorial turn after his 1997’s ‘The Brave’. On the acting front, Depp will make his comeback with the film ‘Jeanne du Barry’ that will open the Cannes Film Festival.

The Hollywood superstar is in the news for his highly-publicized defamation trial with his former wife Amber Heard. However, he won the defamation case and was awarded $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 in million in punitive damages.

On the other hand, Amber had reportedly quit Hollywood and relocated to Spain with her daughter following the court drama.
