Veteran actress Jaya Bachchan is celebrating her 76th birthday today and social media is flooded with heartfelt wishes on her big day. Apart from several admirers, hubby Amitabh Bachchan, son Abhishek Bachchan and granddaughter Navya Nanda also took to social media and penned down sweet notes to express their love.
The veteran actress was the talk of the town for her character portrayal in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani alongside Dharmendra and other stars. It was a nostalgic moment for fans during the sequence when Jaya delivers the dialogue "Keh diya naa, bas keh diya,” which was spoken by Amitabh Bachchan in one of the most loved movies, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Though it was not scripted, it was one of the most applauded moments in the film. Fans were mesmerised to see the iconic veteran actors together.
Well, fans are well aware of the closeness between Deol and Bachchan family. While Dharmendra and Amitabh have worked in several iconic movies, Jaya has also worked with Bollywood's 'He-Man.' But, did you know, Jaya has been a huge admirer of Dharmendra and even confessed to having a huge crush on him?
In 2007, Jaya recalled her first meeting with Dharmendra when she featured on Koffee With Karan. Speaking to the show's host Karan Johar, Jaya said, "I loved Dharmendra."
Narrating about her first meeting with the actor, Jaya said, "You know when I saw him for the first time and I was introduced to him, there was a sofa like this. I went and hid behind it. I was so nervous! I didn’t know what to do. There was this fantastic-looking man. I still remember what he was wearing- white trousers and a white shirt and he looked like a Greek God!”

Jaya Bachchan worked with Dharmendra in 1971's Guddi. It was then that Dharmendra got to know about Jaya's feelings for him. Reportedly, Jaya confessed to having a crush on him.
Recently, during an interview on Zoom, Dharmendra said, "This is her love and respect speaking. I’ve known Jaya and Amitabh for a very long time now. I still remember the fun times that we had while shooting for Sholay.”
