James Gunn reacts to greatly coveted 'Marvel and DC crossover' made possible by Bollywood!
Marvel and DC (Detective Comics) are the two biggest powerhouses in the comic book and superhero entertainment industry. Each of them has a distinct universe and has iconic superheroes. While Marvel has superheroes like Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Dr Strange, Thor, Ant-Man, The Avengers, The X-Men, The Fantastic Four and many more, DC has Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, etc.
Recently released 'Deadpool and Wolverine' featured a wide array of characters and the movie has scripted box office records with an impressive collection of $1.3 billion. While it was quite entertaining to watch several superheroes and villains in one movie, there are many moviegoers across the globe who yearn to see Marvel and DC crossover. Though, it may not be a possible thing in Hollywood. It has already happened in Bollywood. Moreover, Hollywood's prominent filmmaker James Gunn, who has directed superhero movies both in Marvel and DC is in splits after coming across a Bollywood movie's song showing 'Superman' and 'Spider-Man' together.
Well, the Hindi movie that has left Gunn in splits is 1988's Dariya Dil, starring Govinda and Kimi Katkar. The movie has a song in which Chichi is seen dressed up as Superman and Katkar in Spider-Man (woman) costume.
On Tuesday, taking to his Instagram stories, Gunn shared a clip from the song 'Tu Mera Superman' and reacted hilariously to the track. In the song, Superman and Spider-Man are seen romancing and dancing in a park. The clip shows Govinda punching a man directly into the clouds and fighting with other goons. Finally, he saves Katkar from the goons and they start dancing.
The director shared the clip and wrote in the caption, “DC (handshake emoticon) Marvel.”
Notably, Govinda and Kimi Katkar were dressed up as Superman and Spider-Man for the song only and were not playing the characters of superheroes. Well, the 'unofficial' Indian version of Superman was released in 1987. The movie titled 'Superman' starred Puneet Issar as the iconic superhero and Dharmendra played his father's role.
A couple of months back, Gunn announced wrapping the filming of the much-awaited flick Superman, targeted for 2025 release. The new Superman movie stars David Corenswet as the young Clark Kent.
