The historic win of 'Naatu Naatu' at the Oscars has been welcomed by everyone across the country who are showering it with praise, love and appreciation. Amid all these celebrations, Jacqueline Fernandez’ makeup artist and close friend Shaan Muttathil’s shocking claims about the award have caught everyone’s attention and left all angered.
Reportedly, Shaan Muttathil alleged that the victories at the Academy Awards are rigged and further claimed that one can buy these with money.
Taking to the comments section of an Instagram post about Naatu Naatu's win at the Oscars, Muttathil wrote, “Hahahah this is so funny. I thought only in India we could buy awards lol. But now even the Oscars. Money and what all we can get when we have the money. Even Oscars lol." He, however, deleted the comment later.
The comments of Muttathil did not go down well with the netizens who slammed him and alleged that the rant was nothing more than a case of bad-mouthing and jealousy.
For the unversed, the song ‘Applause’ from Jacqueline Fernandez's starrer ‘Tell It Like a Woman’ was also in the race for an Oscar in the Best Original Song category.
However, Naatu Naatu won the award beating other contenders which included Lady Gaga's Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick, Rihanna's Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Son Lux, Mitski, David Byrne's This Is A Life from Everything Everywhere All at Once.
