Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar
Bollywood fans are in for a nostalgic treat as Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan are reuniting on screen after 17 years for Priyadarshan’s upcoming thriller, Haiwaan. The duo, last seen together in the 2008 action-comedy Tashan, will now share screen space in what promises to be a gripping edge-of-the-seat entertainer.
The announcement was made by Priyadarshan himself, who took to Instagram to share a candid photo of Akshay and Saif enjoying the India vs England Test match at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. Captioning the moment, he wrote: “Haiwaan – my next film with @akshaykumar and Saif Ali Khan at Lords.”
According to Bollywood Hungama, Haiwaan is the official Hindi remake of the 2016 Malayalam hit Oppam, originally starring Mohanlal. Interestingly, Akshay Kumar will reportedly play the antagonist in this adaptation, a refreshing shift from his usual roles.
The film is described as a nail-biting thriller, and both Akshay and Saif were reportedly excited after reading the script. A source shared, “It’s a gripping and entertaining film that will keep the audience hooked till the last frame.”
Haiwaan is scheduled to go on floors in August 2025 and is eyeing a 2026 theatrical release.
While Saif was last seen in the Netflix action thriller Jewel Thief, Akshay has a busy slate ahead, including Priyadarshan’s Bhooth Bangla and the much-anticipated Hera Pheri 3, which recently saw Paresh Rawal confirm his return to the iconic franchise.
With a stellar cast, a proven director, and an intense storyline, Haiwaan is already creating major buzz. The Akshay-Saif combo under Priyadarshan’s direction might just deliver another memorable hit and fans couldn’t be more excited.
