For the unversed, Shogun is an American historical drama television series, mostly Japanese with the majority of the dialogues in the Japanese language. It is receiving widespread critical acclaim, particularly for the directing, writing, visuals and faithfulness to the source materials.

Following its success, the second and third seasons are in development. Shogun follows the collision of two ambitious men from different worlds, a risk-taking English sailor who ends up shipwrecked in Japan and Lord Toranaga, a shrewd, powerful and dangerous man.
