Indian Idol 12 contestants are overjoyed and the reason is that they are finally home. After shooting for long weeks outside Mumbai, finally, the contestants have been allowed to spend some time at their native places. However, it is not because the makers of the show want the contestants to have quality time with their family members.

But it is because the makers want to give the contestants a chance to promote themselves among their local people in their city and garner a huge response in the form of votes. Not only will it make a big difference to the final result, but it is sure to increase the popularity of Indian Idol 12 which is currently being constantly dragged into controversies.

The top 7 contestants, who have been sent back to their hometown include Shanmukha Priya, Mohammed Danish, Sayli Kamble, Arunita Kanjilal, Pawandeep Rajan, and Ashish Kulkarni. Each of the contestants has a huge following on social media. But their personal appearance is surely going to make a big difference to the voting.

While the contestants are gearing up to give their best through interacting with their fans in their native towns and cities, controversies continue to haunt the music reality show. Recently famous music composer Salim Merchant opened up about his experience of judging such reality shows in the past.

According to the 'Kurbaan Huwa' singer, while he never showered undue appreciation on any contestant, it is not an uncommon practice on such reality shows. Speaking on Amit Kumar’s statement that the makers asked him to praise the contestants, Salim Merchant said that it has happened with him as well but he never gave in to such demands which is why he is not a judge on any music reality show.

He further added that he has praised contestants who made mistakes not because he was told to do so but because he believes in seeing good qualities in a singer and if he appreciates them for these qualities, it will make them excel in the future.
