Finally! THIS Indian film beats Pushpa 2, surpasses Allu Arjun's massy film's 17-day collections in 2 days

Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna's Pushpa 2: The Rule has been scripting history with its glorious box office run. Not just in the South, Sukumar's Pushpa 2 (dubbed version) has emerged as the biggest Hindi grosser and kickstarted the Rs 700-crore club. By the end of its 20-day run, Pushpa 2 has earned Rs 701.65 crore. According to Sacnilk, the worldwide collection of the action-drama on Tuesday stood at Rs 1526.95 crore. Despite new releases, Pushpa 2's performance remains unaffected. However, another Indian movie that was released recently has shockingly beaten Pushpa 2 and surpassed its 17-day collections in just 2 days. Sounds surprising?

Well, the movie is none other than Upendra's latest release UI, which hit the theatres on December 20, 2024.

UI, the Indian Kannada-language science fiction dystopian action film, written and directed by Upendra, has emerged as a blockbuster in Kerala. The movie, also starring Reshma Nanaiah, Nidhi Subbaiah, Sadhu Kokila, Murali Krishna, Murali Sharma, and Indrajit Lankesh in lead roles surpassed the 17-day collection of Pushpa 2 in just 2 days. Interestingly, UI has earned twice as much as Pushpa 2's 17-day collection.

While Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 struggled to retain the audience in Kerala, Upendra's UI emerged as a blockbuster.

According to the initial figures from industry tracker Sacnilk, UI's opening day collection in Kannada was Rs 6.95 crore, Rs 65 lakh in Telugu, Rs 4 lakh in Tamil and Rs 1 lakh in Hindi. On day 2, UI's collection was Rs 13.90 crore with which it clearly outperformed Pushpa 2 in the Kannada market. Reportedly, Allu Arjun's massy action failed to generate even Rs 15 crore in the region.

Interestingly, UI opened to mixed reviews and its box office earnings are lower than the Rs 10 crore opening collection of Upendra's previous film, Kabza.

It is natural for a regional film to outshine any other film as love of fans for their own matinee idol will be much more than any other.

Interestingly, Upendra and Allu Arjun earlier had teamed up for a Telugu movie titled S/O Sathyamurthy, which also starred Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Nithya Menon, Sneha and Adah Sharma.
