India Today Mood of the Nation: Amitabh Bachchan tops, Aishwarya surprises

Amitabh Bachchan is indeed the biggest Bollywood star. But now that he has crossed 80 and is no longer the male lead in the movies, it is expected that other big stars like Shah Rukh Khan , Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, or Hrithik Roshan top the list of the most liked actors today. But that does not seem to be the case as the recently published India Today Mood of the Nation shows Amitabh Bachchan topping the list followed by Shah Rukh Khan. Surprisingly, SRK is behind Big B by a sizeable margin which once again proves that films, no films, Amitabh Bachchan’s charisma continues to rule the hearts of the Indians.

Allu Arjun gain entry in top 5

Pushpa: The Rule was the biggest hit of 2024. The sequel created mass hysteria, dismantling many records made by several blockbusters from Bollywood and surprising all the trade analysts. Naturally, its lead actors, Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, were expected to gain from this stupendous success. In this list of the Mood of the Nation, Allu Arjun enters for the first time at the third spot. He is followed by Salman Khan and then Akshay Kumar at the fifth spot.

The list of women is topped by Deepika Padukone which was expected as she has been the reigning queen for a long time now. What was surprising was that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at 2nd position. With not a single release last year and barely 2 to 3 movie releases in the last decade, Ash still managed to come in the top 2. What’s more, the PS1 actress is behind Deeps by just 0.1%. That once again shows that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan continues to be one of the most loved actresses of Bollywood despite doing fewer movies in the last two decades.

Rashmika Mandanna in top 3

Rashmika Mandanna grabs the 3rd spot courtesy of Pushpa 2’s success and also because of her recent release Chhaava. She has also been in the limelight for being the leading lady in Salman Khan’s upcoming movie with AR Murguadoss- Sikandar. Katrina Kaif is at the 4th spot with Kangana Ranaut making an entry on the 5th spot.

Kats in the top 5 is not a surprise as she has been a superstar all through these last few years. Kangana Ranaut however has made an entry courtesy of her latest release Emergency. Though the film did not do well at the box office it was much discussed and triggered a lot of debate on social media. Surprisingly, both Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor have not been able to gain a spot in the top 5 which can be an indication that they were less in the limelight these last few months.
