Whenever we mention or talk about Bollywood baddies, the late veteran actor Amrish Puri’s iconic character in Mr India instantly comes to our mind. In this Shekhar Kapur directorial movie, Amrish Puri’s bone chilling performance as Mr Mogambo has been etched in the memory of almost all the movie lovers.

From his awe-inspiring entry to dialogue deliveries of “Mogambo Khush Hua”, made a significant impact for making this movie a cult classic.

But Amrish Puri was not the original choice for the character. In fact, another actor was initially signed to play the role of this iconic character.

The role of Mogambo was originally offered to Anupam Kher but he was replaced by the request his dear friend Anil Kapoor who was the lead actor in that movie.

Anupam Kher shed a light of this rejection on his show Anupam Kher show. While hosting Anil Kapoor’s daughter Sonam Kapoor and nephew Arjun Kapoor, he said "Aaplog jaante hain ki Mr. India mein Mogambo ka role main karna waala tha? Aur mujhe nikalwaane mein kiska bada haath tha? Anil Kapoor sahab ka! Frustration mein main Javed (Akhtar) saahab se milne gaya aur unhone kaha ki wo role Amrish Puri ji kar rahe hain, aur mujhe sunke bada dukh hua.”

Anil Kapoor and Anupam Kher share a good camaraderie between them as they both have known each other since long. The two veteran actors have worked in numerous movies which is a testimony of their skills and talent on the cinema forefront

Mr India which was a box office hit also features Sridevi, Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles.
