Indian singer Sonu Nigam doesn't need an introduction as the versatile singer has left several marks of his talent across different states in several genres. Sonu, born to Agam Kumar Nigam and Shobha Nigam on July 30, 1973 is counted among the singing icons of the country for his versatility. His legend spreads overseas as well.
Sonu believes another legendary singer of yesteryear- Mohammad Rafi as his idol, and for his unmatched talent and similar voice texture, he is also referred to as 'Modern Rafi' by fans.
This singing legend has a huge fan base across generations in India as well as overseas. To name a few, Kal Ho Na Ho, Abhi Mujhme Kahin, Mein Agar Kahoon, etc have left their marks in the industry and have turned evergreen while fetching him National and Filmfare Awards.

Sonu today (July 30) turned 48 and fans across the country are celebrating the iconic singer's birthday in their own ways. The singer's social media handles was flooded with wishes from his fellow singers, actors as well as fans. However, one among such fans and close to Sonu stepped a bit ahead to make his birthday celebration more memorable.
A fan named Priya Priyambada celebrated her Guardian Angel's birthday in a unique way and shared the video on social media which was reposted by Sonu himself.
The post read: "Happy Birthday my Guardian Angel @sonunigamofficial maybe you aren't aware of this but you have become!!"
Further extending her gratitude and well wishes Priya wrote: "Please accept my tribute Sonu Ji, I tried in a different way by spreading a bit of happiness on your special day."
Sonu reposted the post on his Insta handle and captioned it: "This is sooo sweet"
The post contained several pics and a video in which Priya is seen celebrating Sonu's birthday with unprivileged kids who live on streets and beg for their one-time meal. The video in the post showed several kids and adults extending their wishes for the great singer on his special day.
The innocent kids and their cute smiles along with their enthusiasm while wishing Sonu happy birthday will win everyone’s heart.
Sonu began his career in singing at the age of four and stepped into Bollywood at the age of 19. He made his debut as a singer in 1995 with Bewafa Sanam's evergreen song- Acha Sila Diya. His journey continued with Border's Sandeshe Aate Hain and several other songs. However, the singer went unnoticed in the industry as he was considered as Rafi's clone.
But things changed after he recorded Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pardes's Yeh Dil Diwana which went on to become a super hit song. Sonu considers that this song changed his career path and he became one among the leading singers of the industry.
Though Sonu is not that active in Bollywood as a playback singer, nowadays the music director/composer/singer has been releasing non-filmy songs which are, of course, compared to none.
