Back in 1984, who would have thought that the child artist in the Tamil movie ‘Vetri’ would one day rule the Tamil film industry? Well, the word ‘rule’ is an understatement for Vijay who literally is the ‘commander’ of the South film industry and charges a whopping Rs 150-200 crore per film.

In his 40-year acting career, Vijay has given several blockbusters and enjoys a huge loyal fan base like superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. There was a time when he gave tough competition to Thalaivaa Rajinikanth, Kamal Hassan, and Ajith Kumar.

From innumerable hits and whistle-worthy dialogues, he is one of the few actors whose movies have been dubbed in almost all languages. As Thalapathy celebrates his 50th birthday today, let’s take a look into his alleged affair with south siren Trisha.

The actress, who reunited with Vijay for ‘Leo’ after 14 long years, shared screen space with him in Kuruvi which was their last film since 2008. The reason behind this was reports of Vijay’s growing closeness with Trisha. There were even reports of Vijay’s wife Sangeeta not too happy with his growing closeness with Trisha, leading to ‘divorce’ speculations.

The two actors, who met for the first time in Gilli in 2005, however, refuted the rumours and maintained that they were just good friends and loved each other’s work.

Back in the day, Trisha said that they were nothing more than friends and co-workers in the same industry. After 14 long years, the duo reunited for ‘Leo’ which turned out to be a huge blockbuster at the box office. The two proved that they are great actors with ‘Leo’ and fans went crazy to see them together in a movie after a long time.

After the stupendous success of ‘Leo’, Vijay is all set to woo his fans with his upcoming sci/fi actioner ‘The Greatest Of All Time’ while Trisha is gearing up for her upcoming movie.
