Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma
From the girl-next-door in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi to the fierce Meera in NH10, Anushka Sharma has carved a distinctive place in Bollywood with her dynamic performances and bold career choices. Known for her infectious energy, remarkable screen presence, and unfiltered honesty, Anushka is among the rare few actresses who have shared screen space with all three Khans, Shah Rukh, Salman, and Aamir, early in her career. But beyond the arc lights and red carpets lies a charming love story that began with an awkward joke and a nervous cricketer.
India’s cricketing icon Virat Kohli is known for his confidence on the pitch, but when he first met Anushka Sharma, he admits he was anything but suave. During a 2019 interview with American journalist Graham Bensinger, Virat recalled the cringeworthy moment that marked their first meeting during a commercial shoot.
“I was super nervous,” Virat said. “I didn’t know how to break the ice, so I blurted out, ‘Couldn’t you have worn higher heels?’ hoping it would come off as funny. She looked at me and went, ‘Excuse me?’ I immediately realised I’d made a fool of myself.”
Despite the awkward start, love blossomed. Virat and Anushka tied the knot in a dreamy, intimate ceremony in Tuscany, Italy, on 11 December 2017. They welcomed their daughter Vamika in January 2021, and just last year, expanded their family further with the birth of their son Akaay.
Now, the couple leads a quieter life, often splitting time between India and London, shielding their children from the limelight. Despite their global fame, they continue to prioritise family and personal space over the public glare.
