The legendary superstar of Hollywood-Sylvester Stallone celebrates his birthday today. Known for playing the characters of Rocky and Rambo in the franchises with the same name, he has a massive fan base across the world, especially when it comes to the action genre.

During his heydays, he had only one competitor- the Terminator fame actor Arnold Schwarzenegger. To date, he has maintained his bulky, muscular buildup and is one of the fittest and strongest aging Hollywood superstars.

Stallone had his share of struggles

Life has not been easy for Sly who had to struggle right from his childhood and underwent a lot of training to get that look of Rocky or Rambo. But before that big break, he had to work hard to get recognition and at one point in time was completely broke with no place to live.

To make ends meet, he worked on multiple jobs like cleaning cages of lions at the Central Park Zoo, as a hairdresser, and even as an usher at the Walter Reade Theater.

Sly keeps a close watch on what goes inside his stomach

The major focus of Sylvester Stallone during the making of Rocky was to build mass. The aim was to become bulkier and for all three movies, he kept on increasing his target. His training days used to be quite crazy and his diet included 25 cups of coffee every day with body fat of just 3%.

For more than 4 decades now, Sly has maintained his ripped and well-chiseled body and not surprisingly, it is because he continues to work out two sessions every day for six days in a week.

And to maintain his look, he is very careful of what he puts inside his stomach. He takes a well-planned diet that includes 4 meals a day with each meal high in carbohydrates and proteins with almost no fat content. He also uses weight gainers and protein shakers for nourishment as he believes average food does not include nutrients in concentrated forms.

Sly had a pretty bad school life

The dashing superstar had some pretty bad days in school as he was expelled from the school 14 times during his teenage years more often for vandalism and fighting with others.

His teachers from junior high school even voted him to be the most likely student to end up in an electric chair. Nevertheless, Sylvester Stallone proved them wrong by completing higher education in Switzerland.
