Happy B’Day Jason Momoa: When the Aquaman actor lied openly to get a role

Today Jason Mamoa is well known for his roles like Khal Drogo and Aquaman. But he had his share of struggles and ups and downs before gaining popularity as an actor. So desperate was Mamoa to get his first break in acting that he even openly lied during an acting audition. When he was auditioning for a role in Baywatch Jason was asked for his resume. He and his friend did not have any.

When asked whether he had done any acting before the answer was no. Both young boys felt that the opportunity was slipping from their hands.

So, when they were asked whether they have any experience in modelling they simply lied and said that they indeed have modelled for big brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton but in Japan.

And that is how Jason Momoa who celebrates his birthday today on August 1 landed his first role in the television serial Baywatch: Hawaii.

Jason Momoa is a multiskilled Hawaiian

Born in Honolulu to a painter father and a photographer mom, he left the city for Iowa after his parents divorced. But for graduation, he returned to Hawaii and attended the University of Hawaii and that is why he considers himself a true Hawaiian.

Apart from acting Jason Mamoa has a lot of other hobbies and skills. He is an avid rock climber, a popular YouTuber, and also a guitar enthusiast.

Undoubtedly his huge height has played an important role in Jason’s career and he even accepts it. Jason Mamoa is 6 ft. 5 inches tall and it was his height that gave him an advantage over other actors when casting was going on for roles such as Conan and Khal Drago.

Apart from his height and long hair locks, it is the eyebrow slit that always has added charisma to his personality.

While he retained the long hair look by choice, the slit is something that was caused when a guy smashed glass on his face due to which he had 140 stitches on his face.

But that too has worked in his favour as that particular scar has given him a natural, menacing look making it easier for him to get those mean roles.
