Sunita Ahuja
Sunita Ahuja, wife of Bollywood icon Govinda, has never been part of films or music, yet she knows how to keep the spotlight on herself. This Independence Day, she surprised fans by stepping into the world of vlogging and the internet is already abuzz with reactions.
On August 15, Sunita launched her own YouTube channel, Sunita Ahuja, which gained over 42,000 subscribers in just 22 hours. Her first vlog, titled “Aab Mein Paise Chapugi” (“Now, I will mint some money”), shows her travelling with her staff member, Mukesh, to a distant temple to pray for Govinda. The format instantly reminded viewers of Farah Khan’s popular weekly vlogs with her cook Dilip.
While Sunita’s debut vlog crossed half a million views within a day, many social media users pointed out similarities to Farah’s concept. Comments ranged from playful jibes like “Farah Khan ki sasti copy” to more neutral observations about the familiar format. Others, however, praised her candid personality, calling her “truthful” and “real” compared to other celebrities.
Interestingly, Farah Khan herself joined in the fun, wishing Sunita luck via Instagram Stories and affectionately calling her 'Biwi No. 1.' Married to Govinda since 1987, Sunita is mother to Yashvardhan and Tina. The couple was in the headlines earlier this year over relationship rumours, which they neither confirmed nor denied.
With her trademark sharp wit and unapologetic honesty, Sunita Ahuja’s foray into YouTube promises to be as entertaining as her public persona and if the debut numbers are anything to go by, she’s already found her audience.
