Good Luck Jerry: Janvhi Kapoor excels but it is Sushant Singh, Deepak Dobriyal who shine

Janhvi Kapoor starrer Good Luck Jerry has now started streaming on OTT. And yes she has done a splendid job if compared to her earlier movies. From Dhadak to Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, the young actress has progressed. But even then, she is still to reach the level where you can say that Janhvi can now carry a movie on her shoulders. What she lacked has been added by seasoned actors like Sushant Singh and Deepak Dobriyal.

This Aanand L Rai-produced movie is a comedy crime thriller in which Janhvi plays the title role of Jerry a Bihari girl from a lower-middle-class family. The original movie from the South had Nayanthara playing the same role as a girl who works in a massage parlour but is forced to sell drugs when her mother is diagnosed with cancer. Being a Bihari it is expected of Jerry to speak in the Bihari dialect but Janhvi falls short of expectations although she seems to have tried her best.

Jerry then starts delivering drugs in Dabba filled with momos and noodles so that no one can catch her. Since she has a next-door girl's innocent look the police do not suspect her at first. However, the movie gets a bit of pace after the police officials get a tip and they start tracking Jerry’s movements. For those who are used to seeing Janhvi in stylish clothes all the time, watching Jerry in a typical middle-class salwar kurta can be a bit surprising and shocking. But the actress carries the look quite well.

The best part is the acting of Deepak Dobriyal who makes watching the movie fun with his superb comic timing and accent. Rather he is the tadka that this dull movie required to add entertainment and laughter. Even seasoned actor like Sushant Singh who is always seen on the phone and plays baddie in the movie makes a good impact.
