Sunny Deol’s latest release, Gadar 2 has emerged as a grand success. The sequel to 2001’s ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’, helmed by Anil Sharma is on a historic spree at the domestic box office. The fifth day of business on Independence Day is estimated to be around Rs 57 crore. Be it multiplexes or single screens, the theatres are running with 100 percent occupancy across the country.

While the entire team celebrates the humongous success of the movie, director Anil has hinted at the possibility of the next instalment of the franchise, Gadar 3.

Talking about Gadar 3, Anil was quoted as saying, “You'll have to wait for that. Intezar ka fal meetha hota hai (the fruit of patience is sweet), just like this one (Gadar 2).”

Further, he added, “Some thoughts have come to me and Shaktimaan Ji's (writer of Gadar 2) minds. So just wait everything will happen.”

The speculations on the third instalment were fuelled as at the end of Gadar 2, the film credits read, “To be continued.” Even the excitement among fans and cine lovers is elevated.

Even Sunny, during a press conference organised on 14th August 2023 for the success of Gadar 2, talked about the sequels of his various movies.

Sunny gave his fans his word that he would persist in bringing them ‘good’ movies. Speaking about the sequels, Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, Apne 2, and Gadar 3, he was quoted by ANI as saying, “I know that everyone is waiting for these movies. Our whole family came together in Yamla Pagla Deewana and people laughed and enjoyed the movie. Everyone's now waiting for the second part but for that, the story is very important. As of now, I don't have the right story for it. I have a story ready for Apne. Let us see when we will start working on it.”

In ‘Gadar 2: The Katha Continues’ Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma reprised their roles. Gadar 2 follows Tara Singh as he ventures across the border in a daring attempt to rescue his son, who has been captured in Pakistan. Gadar 2 hit the theatres on August 11 and has so far minted Rs 173.88 crore in India.
