Indian men’s cricket team's 'Gabbar' aka Shikhar Dhawan has built a huge fan base with his swag apart from his brilliant on-field performance. The left-handed batter never misses out to fill fun in a moment that everyone admires a lot. However, his entertainment is limited to social media.

If you are a fan of Gabbar, then here is a good news for you. The international cricketer will be soon making his acting debut.

Yes, you heard it right!

As reported by Pink Villa on Monday, Dhawan is gearing up to make his acting debut with a big mainstream project. Moreover, the portal also reported that he has already finished the shooting. However, more details regarding the movie's title and other essential information is awaited.

Pink Villa quoted a source saying, "Shikhar always had huge respect for actors, and when he was offered this part he was happy to come aboard. The makers felt that Shikhar suits the character and reached out to him a few months back."

Further, the source went on to add, "It’s a proper full-length role and not a cameo. His part is pivotal in the film, which is expected to release sometime this year."

Last year in October, Dhawan was spotted on the sets of Ram Setu, which features Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrratt Bharuccha. This sparked rumours that the cricketer is going to be a part of the film. However, the source cleared the air that it’s not Ram Setu that Shikhar is making his debut with.

If the buzz is anything to go by, Dhawan will certainly introduce a new blend of entertainment with his unique swags.

Indian cricketers who featured on the silver screen

Dhawan won't be the first Indian cricketer to foray into Bollywood or appear on the silver screen. Earlier, several others have already worked in different commercial movies.

Earlier, Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Vinod Kambli and Ajay Jadeja have shown their acting skills on the silver screen.

Cricketers including Mohammad Kaif, Ashish Nehra, Parthiv Patel, Irrfan Pathan, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Harbhajan Singh, Javagal Srinath, and Kapil Dev appeared in cameo roles in Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra starrer Mujhse Shaadi Karogi.

Former captain MS Dhoni also had appeared in a cameo role in Hook Ya Crook. However, the movie didn't release. And now, Dhoni is reportedly venturing into film production in the Tamil movie industry.

Also fast bowler Sreesanth has starred in Aksar 2 as well as a Malayalam movie Team 5. The list also includes Yuvraj Singh, his father Yugraj Singh, Syed Kirmani, Sandip Patil and Salim Durani.
