Popular director and filmmaker Saawan Kumar Tak, who introduced superstar Salman Khan to the film industry, died following a heart attack Thursday evening. The news of his demise has left his fans and friends from the film fraternity in shock.

Salman Khan took to social media to offer his condolences. Taking to his Instagram handle, the superstar shared an old picture with Tak and wrote, “May you rest in peace, my dear Sawaan Ji. Have always loved n respected u.”

Tak had introduced Salman in his debut movie ‘Sanam Bewafa’. He also had directed Salman in the 2006 movie Saawan: The Love Season. However, the film failed to impress the audience.

 

 

In an interview, he had revealed how he saw something in Salman that made him to sign the superstar for his debut movie, when he was a nobody.

“I had long understood, that this fellow (Salman Khan) has something in him and will become a superstar someday,” Tak had said about the ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ star. 

Tak was under treatment due to a lung-related ailment. But, he passed away due to heart attack, confirmed his nephew Naveen Kumar. 

Speaking to Indian Express, Naveen said, "Saawan Ji suffered a heart attack at around 4:15 pm today. He died of multiple organ failure."

Saawan Kumar Tak was a part of the Hindi film industry for more than five-decade. He has directed many popular films like Souten and Sajan Bina Suhagan.
