Farah Khan
Social media influencer and former Bigg Boss contestant Vikas Jayram Fhatak, popularly known as Hindustani Bhau, has moved the Bombay High Court seeking the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan.
The complaint stems from a remark she allegedly made about the Hindu festival of Holi during a recent episode of Celebrity MasterChef.
Hindustani Bhau claims that Farah referred to Holi as a festival of "chhapris", a term often used in a derogatory manner. He argued that such a statement hurts Hindu sentiments and has the potential to incite communal disharmony.
Previously, he had also filed a formal complaint at the Khar Police Station in Mumbai, demanding legal action against the filmmaker. His complaint urged authorities to take strict action under sections 196, 299, 302, and 353 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Speaking to the media, he said, “Holi is a festival celebrated by 100 crore Indians, including our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sadhus, and saints. Calling it a festival of ‘chhapris’ is an insult to Sanatan Dharma and its followers.”
Bhau further accused Bollywood of repeatedly disrespecting Hinduism in films and public statements.
“From the beginning, Bollywood has portrayed Hindu Dharma and its traditions in a negative light. This is just another example.”
The controversy has gained traction, but Farah Khan is yet to respond to the allegations.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Farah Khan is currently seen on Celebrity MasterChef as one of the judges along with chefs Ranveer Brar and Viskash Khanna.
