Kiara Advani quits Don 3, with Ranveer Singh as lead
Kiara Advani has reportedly stepped away from Don 3 to focus on her pregnancy, as confirmed by multiple industry sources. The actress, who was announced as the female lead in Farhan Akhtar’s reboot in 2023, mutually parted ways with the project after revealing her pregnancy with husband Sidharth Malhotra in February 2024.
While neither Akhtar nor Advani’s team has issued an official statement, insiders claim the decision was driven by her desire to prioritize motherhood.
The third instalment of the Don franchise, initially announced in August 2023, has been delayed due to scheduling conflicts.
Ranveer Singh, set to replace Shah Rukh Khan as the titular anti-hero, is filming an untitled project with director Aditya Dhar. Akhtar, meanwhile, is working on 120 Bahadur. Reports suggest Vikrant Massey has been roped in as the antagonist, though casting remains unconfirmed.
The film, dubbed by critics as a “risky reboot,” has yet to finalize its female lead after Advani’s exit.
As per reports, the actress is currently filming War 2, the YRF Spy Universe sequel starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, slated for a 2025 release. She will also appear in Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups alongside Kannada superstar Yash.
Post-maternity break, she is rumoured to headline Maddock Films’ horror-comedy Shakti Shalini (part of their Stree universe) and YRF’s Dhoom 4. However, neither project has been officially confirmed.
Kiara Advani married actor Sidharth Malhotra in a lavish Jaisalmer ceremony in February 2023. The couple announced their pregnancy on social media in February 2024, sharing a photo of baby socks with the caption: “The greatest gift of our lives. Coming soon.”
With Advani’s exit, the Don 3 team is reportedly scouting for a new actress to star opposite Ranveer Singh.
Meanwhile, Advani’s recent film Game Changer (2024) with Ram Charan underperformed commercially, but her roles in War 2 and Toxic keep her in high demand. Industry experts suggest her career trajectory remains strong, balancing blockbusters with potential genre experiments post-maternity.
