Why Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan are still 'heroes'? Meenakshi Seshadri reveals 'real' reason

Yesteryear actress Meenakshi Seshadri is in the headlines after she expressed her desire to begin a new innings in the industry. Moreover, the veteran actress shocked everyone by saying that she is ready to do an item song, and for 'Pushpa 3'. Well, during a recent interview, she disclosed several lesser-known tales about her costars, including Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, and Shatrughan Sinha. She further revealed the reason why Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan are still 'heroes'.

Notably, Meenakshi debuted in 1983 with Painter Babu. But the debut flick bombed at the box office. With her stellar performance and charm in Hero, which became a blockbuster, she strengthened her place in the industry. Later, she went on to work with several A-list actors. However, she quit the industry in 1996 after getting married to focus on her personal life and settled in the USA. Now that the actress revealed that she is gearing up to make a comeback, during the interview she was asked why male actors remain heroes for a longer time, in comparison to female actors.

During the interview with Lehren Retro, Meenakshi said, "There are quite a few reasons why male actors have a longer run in the industry. Even with Dharmendra, Jeetendra, and Amitabh Bachchan’s generation, they are still at it."

Further, she added, "Another factor is that men are not really the ones who are doing domestic duties at home. So they can completely devote themselves to their careers. The third reason is that they don’t have to worry about childbirth, pregnancy, or raising children. All of this becomes the woman’s responsibility."

"This is exactly why these heroes are still going strong. And, of course, people still like them. It is the most important factor,” she said.

Notably, Meenakshi worked in the Hindi film industry for over 13 years and has several blockbusters in her kitty, including Damini, Ghayal, Ghatak, and Shahenshah, to name a few. Now, after a hiatus of nearly 27 years, the 60-year-old former actress is keen to make a comeback. Well, this has indeed excited her admirers.
