‘Cheat Fund’: Tarang Plus launches gripping web series on Odisha’s infamous chit fund scam

As a New Year gift to its viewers, Odisha's first online and leading OTT platform ‘Tarang Plus’ has come up with an explosive new web series, ‘Cheat Fund,’ premiering on January 2, 2025.

This series by Tarang Plus, dives deep into the heart of Odisha’s infamous chit fund scam, unravelling the story of a young village boy whose rise from poverty to power is intertwined with a colossal Rs 10,000 crore chit fund scam. 

‘Cheat Fund’ follows the protagonist’s journey from being a small-time business owner to the director of ‘Artha Mantra’, a firm that morphs from a legitimate investment company into a fraudulent operation preying on thousands of investors. 

As the scam escalates, devastating the lives of countless poor families, the protagonist’s conscience compels him to become a CBI informant. Risking his life, he exposes the sinister truth behind one of Odisha’s largest financial frauds.

Inspired by real-life chit fund scams that rocked Odisha, ‘Cheat Fund’ offers an unflinching portrayal of how trust and cultural values were exploited by scammers.

The series authentically captures the rural-urban divide and the vulnerability of small investors lured into financial traps under the guise of prosperity.

The series has an ensemble star cast that includes Sarthak, Meera, Biranchi Nayak, Swetadha, Kalyan, Umakanta Sahoo, Soumya Ranjan Jena, Sarada, Sidhhi, Sourav Mohapatra, Ajay Acharya and Tathagat.

Besides, Dillip, Ashok, Manas, Joy, Sushil Mishra, Pradip Debta, Santosh Ranjan Nayak, Sambit, Satyajeet, Ahsan Raza, Anshuman, Silu,Sijan mahapatra and Chandan Vedula will be seen in pivotal roles.

The series is directed by Mayank Satapathy and written by Ranjan Sathpathy.
