A series of devastating wildfires have been wreaking havoc in South Korea’s southeastern regions, displacing residents and destroying thousands of structures.
As the crisis unfolds, several South Korean celebrities have stepped up to aid the victims and firefighters through generous donations and active participation in relief efforts. Among them is BTS’ Jin, also known as Kim Seokjin, who has personally volunteered to support those affected.
On Thursday, April 3, Jin was spotted distributing free meals to wildfire victims and firefighters at Gilam Middle School, a designated relief centre in Gilan-myeon, Andong City. According to Korean media reports, the K-pop star travelled to the disaster-affected region to assist in a food service initiative led by renowned chef Baek Jong Won and Theborn Korea. Since March 28, the organisation has been providing over 300 servings of food per meal to those impacted by the disaster.
Jin, attempting to maintain a low profile, wore a black cap, a mask, and an apron while volunteering. However, his efforts did not go unnoticed, as pictures and videos of his involvement quickly spread online, garnering widespread praise from fans and netizens alike.

His selfless act resonated with fans worldwide, who took to social media to express their admiration.
“If kindness was a person, it’s definitely him!!!!” exclaimed one fan.
“Supporting financially is great, but offering your time? That’s kindness in action,” another wrote.
“This is why I look up to him; he inspires us all to be better human beings by doing good deeds.”
“Oh Kim Seokjin, the man you are! I’m so proud to stan the right person.”
As reported by Newsen, Jin spoke about his decision to volunteer, saying, “I decided to participate in volunteer work because I wanted to provide even a small amount of help to those affected by the wildfires.”
Jin’s involvement is part of a larger effort by BTS members to aid wildfire relief. His bandmates have also stepped up by making significant financial contributions to support the victims and emergency responders. Jungkook has donated 1 billion KRW, while V has contributed 200 million KRW. RM, J-Hope, and Suga have each provided 100 million KRW. Their generosity and commitment to humanitarian causes reinforce BTS' influence beyond music, showcasing their dedication to making a real-world impact during times of crisis.
