Bollywood actress and girlfriend of deceased actor Sushant Singh Rajput, Rhea Chakraborty has topped the list of The Times 50 Most Desirable Women of 2020, leaving many into a state of extreme surprise.
The Chehre actress emerged winner after beating stars like Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Kiara Advani, Yami Gautam, Ananya Panday, Kriti Sanon, Disha Patani and others.
Rhea was in the news for most of last year due to the sudden demise of Sushant Singh Rajput and the controversy surrounding his death. The actress was also named in narcotics probe and was in jail for around a month after being released on bail.
Despite the controversies surrounding her, Rhea still got a role in Big B starrer upcoming thriller movie Chehre.
A press release by the publication explains why Rhea, who was hated with a vengeance not too long ago, was selected.
"In the last year, Rhea was one of the most-talked-about people - but not for a reason she would've ever imagined for. She found herself cast in a terrifying role off-screen - one that she never asked for, and one that was forcibly thrust upon her with the sudden death of Sushant Singh Rajput. And overnight, her life changed forever. Before she could even grieve, she was stuck in a circus with no ringmaster, caught in a tussle between multiple players. However, she retained her dignity amidst a barrage of insinuation and abuse. With her strength, resilience and restraint - and refusal to sling back the mud or respond in kind - she rose above it," said a press release.
However, her win hasn’t gone down well with netizens, many were confused over the title while many of them called out the publication house for crowning Rhea as the Most Desirable Woman 2020. While few of them said it is fake while others believed it is part of the paid publication.
