The beginning years of the new millennium were a golden era for movie lovers. A-listed actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Sunny Deol to name a few were quite busy then, in comparison with the schedule of B-Town actors these days.
The initial years also had witnessed several blockbuster movies that undoubtedly set milestones in the movie world. To name a few-- SRK's Mohabbatein, Josh, Kabhi Khusi Kabhie Gham, Salman-starrer Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, Aamir's Mela, Dil Chahta Hai, Lagaan, Akshay's Dhadkan, Hera Pheri, Khiladi 420, Sanju's Mission Kashmir, Kurukshetra, Jodi No1 etc-- had a different fan base and are still reminisced by movie lovers even after over two decades.
The current era is of reviving old songs with new notions and beats. Even, the same actors are seen performing on their old songs. However, the old songs have a different fan base.
The same quotient is relevant for the movies too.
Though all have already seen revised movies with same title like Aashiqui 2 as well as sequels like Phir Hera Pheri , Krrish, Golmaal, Dhamal, which are continued stories of the movies released earlier, the flicks we are talking about are totally different than the others done till date.
Dhadkan is a musical drama directed by Dharmesh Darshan that released in 2000. The movie starred Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Shilpa Shetty in the lead roles. The love story revolved around the trio and showcased revenge, love and sacrifice as the essential elements. The movie went on to become a commercial success for its excellent songs as well as star cast performances. The movie was a huge hit at the box office. Along with the wave of making sequels of movies, reports popped up that the makers are planning to make the sequel to the movie.
Recently during a live interaction with Times Of India, actor Suniel Shetty was asked to deliver one of his favourite dialogues to which the actor opted to deliver his popular dialogue from Dhadkan. When Suniel was asked about his opinion of having a sequel to Dhadkan, Suniel's witty reply hinted at something big.
"Hopefully, Dharmesh Darshan and Venus will produce Dhadkan 2 with my son Ahan and Akshay's son Aarav and Shilpa's daughter (laughs)," TOI quoted Suniel as saying.
He further added, "Ahan will get the heroine as in Dhadkan, Shilpa left me for Akshay. However her daughter is very cute and too small now."
Though it looks impossible to cast Shilpa's daughter as the lady lead, the producers may have plans to cast Ahan and Aarav as the male leads. However, the makers will lift the curtains if they have any plans regarding the same. Or, maybe the makers might bring back the same characters, i.e. Akshay, Suniel and Shilpa, for the sequel with a new story.
Recently, Suniel and Shilpa were seen performing on the iconic song from the movie- Dil Ne Yeh Kaha Hai Dil Se, on the sets of Super Dancer 4. The performance of the duo won the hearts of all and the moments reminisced. Since then, the buzz of the sequel has started circulating on different platforms.
Hera Pheri 3
Though, it looks like making of Dhadkan 2 will take time, Hera Pheri 3, the third instalment of super hit comedy movie Hera Pheri directed by Priyadarshan, will soon hit the theatres. Hera Pheri released in 2000 introduced Akshay and Suniel along with Paresh Rawal in the comedy genre. Though the movie was rated above average considering the box office collection, it was liked by movie lovers a lot. The second part of the franchise was Phir Hera Pheri and was directed by Neeraj Vora.
However, the third instalment of the franchise will be directed by Priyadarshan. The series are in continual and the third part will likely begin showing if Raju (Akshay) threw the guns and then picked up the call from Shyam and Babu Rao or first picked the call.
Earlier, the makers had decided to cast Suniel, Paresh along with John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan excluding Akshay in the third part. The new star cast even had attended a presser for the same. However, things didn't work out and later on it was decided to cast the old group.
