Bengali actress Payel Mukherjee attacked in Kolkata, terrified actor shares video

Amidst the ongoing protests over the heinous rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata, popular Bengali actress Payel Mukherjee had the most disturbing experience of her life after a few bike-borne miscreants attacked her on Southern Avenue, Kolkata.

The miscreants chased her car and broke her car window, leaving her visibly shaken and in tears. Taking to her social media handle, Payel shared her horrifying experience. In the live video, the actress can be seen terrified and in tears while recounting the traumatic experience.

“I was driving in Southern Avenue, Kolkata and he just came and asked me to open the car window. When I refused to open the window due to security reasons as a woman, he just smashed and broke my car window,” Payel narrated.

“I cannot even come out of the car now as there are glasses everywhere. I’m waiting for the Kolkata police to arrive and help me. All this is happening while we are protesting against the rape of a doctor in the city. Imagine this is happening in the most elite place Southern Avenue, Kolkata,” the actress added.

Her video has now gone viral with netizens expressing shock as Kolkata is one of the safest places in India.

“Unfortunate that such is the state of law and order in one of the most upscale parts of the city,” shared a user.

Another user shared, “Sad state of affairs. But soon she could be forced to participate in programs that push a particular political party's agenda.”
