Popular Odia actress Suryamayee Mohapatra is a ‘thief’! You heard it right. Yes, this beautiful, versatile actor who has earned kudos for playing different shades of roles in Odia films is a thief, but not in real life. Come Raja, Suryamayee will be seen in a brand new avatar. She will be donning the role of a thief in the movie Chorani 2.
Talking about her role, Suryamayee said “My fans will see myself in a brand new avatar. It is a big surprise for them as well. Being an actress, I always try to experiment with different kinds of roles. You have seen me in both glamorous and de-glamourised characters. Also, people loved me in negative and serious characters. I have never tried my hands at comedy genre. For the first time, I will be seen in the comedy flick Chorani 2.”
She continued: “I would like to thank Tarang Cine Productions for putting trust on me and offering me a variety of roles. ‘Samapaju ra Raghu’, my last movie with Tarang Cine Production, was appreciated by all and sundry. I played the character of a strong, brave woman in the most ordinary costume with a tanned skin. To my utter surprise, my fans fell in love with my character. This time Tarang Cine Production gave me an opportunity to play a thief. As the title suggests, I am playing the protagonist in the movie. It’s a comedy movie which will be released on June 12 to make people enjoy Raja to the fullest.”
Divulging more about the movie, Suryamayee said, “The film will show the journey of four thieves including me. But I am the protagonist who will be seen fooling people and duping them in disguise of a police inspector, food commissioner and nurse. The film will start with a scene where I will be seen conducting raids on Pintu Nanda’s house and duping him. At the end of the movie, he will be seen as a rickshaw puller after being duped by me.”
Actor Abhishek Panda will make his debut in Odia filmdom with Chorani 2. He will be seen romancing Suryamayee in the movie. Besides, Pintu Nanda, Tribhuban Panda, Shankar Pradhan will be seen in a pivotal roles. Abhijit Majumdar has composed music for the film.
Directed by Mrutyunjay Sahoo and produced by Ramesh Barik, the film will have a world television premier in Alankar channel on June 12 at 6.30pm.
