Atlee reveals 'why his films are working and minting money', check updates on his upcoming flicks

South ace director Atlee, who made it big with his Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, is currently busy promoting Baby John as its producer. The Varun Dhawan-starrer is the Hindi adaptation of his Tamil film Theri. Well, Atlee has been tasting back-to-back success despite being six films old. Recently, Atlee revealed the reason 'why his films are working and minting money'.

During an interview with Pinkvilla, Atlee taking risks and nailing ‘mass’ is something that has helped his films bring in the numbers.

Talking about his Tamil films Bigil and Theri, Atlee said that Vijay trusted him while being shown in an older avatar. Further, talking about Jawan, he added that he told SRK that Vikram Rathore would be a messy character, but the King actor disagreed with him and said Azad would be massy.

"When I told Shah Rukh sir for Jawan, sir you wait and watch, Vikram Rathore is going to be a mass character. He just looked at me and said, no sir, girls like me, Azad will be massy. I said, bet sir. After watching the film he told me I was right,” said Atlee.

Furthermore, he explained what 'mass' means to him.

He said, "Mass is a mother feeling, not an alien feeling. When you tear for a girl, tear for an emotion, tear for a baby, that is mass. When you get anger for the right reason, that is mass. When you really stand for society, that is mass. Other than that, whatever people call mass is not a mass. This is the real mass…that’s why I think all my films, those areas, are working, and my films are making (money at the) box office. That’s my taraka mantra.”

Well, Atlee's 'real mass' mantra has yielded excellent results and his future projects will certainly continue to dominate the box office.

Upcoming flicks

The reports of Atlee teaming up with Salman Khan have stormed the internet. While fans are too excited to see Sallu's cameo in Baby John, Atlee is gearing up to make the big announcement of teaming up with Salman soon. 

According to a report by Pinkvilla, Atlee is gearing up for his sixth directorial venture (A6). While Sallu will reportedly play the lead, Atlee will direct the flick and he is trying to pull off a casting coup by bringing either Rajinikanth or Kamal Haasan on board. Atlee aims to make A6 the biggest cinema in India.

While talking to Pinkvilla, Atlee said A6 is consuming a lot of time and energy. The script is almost complete and the team is in the preparation stage. Atlee also confirmed he will definitely surprise everyone with the A6 cast. 

He also confirmed that the big announcement will be made soon.

Apart from the yet-to-be-named film with Salman, filmmaker Atlee and producer Murad Khetani have announced their next, a Tamil thriller with Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. Reportedly, with a gripping story, Atlee aims to blend the actor's versatility with his star power. As per the reports, the untitled flick with Vijay Sethupathi will go on the floors in the first quarter of 2025 and be released by the end of the year.
