After enthralling fans in Telugu and Tamil movies, lady superstar and queen of South siren actress Anushka Shetty is all set to rule the Malayalam film industry. The Baahubali actress is all set to star in a period fantasy drama film titled ‘Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer’.
Directed by Rojin Thomas, Anushka Shetty will be playing a negative role in the movie, adding an intriguing dimension to the storyline. As per reports, the film tells the story of a 9th-century Christian priest, Kadamattathu Kathanar (played by actor Jayasurya) while Anushka will play Kalliyankattu Neeli, best described as the bloodthirsty ghost with divine beauty.
The makers of the film are trying to make it in two parts and release it at the Pan-India level. The first part is most likely to hit screens towards the end of this year and will be dubbed in English, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Bengali, Chinese, French, Korean, Italian, Russian, Indonesian and Japanese.
Anushka joined the first day of the shoot and shared an adorable picture with the makers of the film. Sharing on Instagram, she wrote, “Entered into the world of Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer.”
Anushka's fans, who have watched her thriller films like ‘Bhaagamathie’ and ‘Arundhati’, are super excited as no one can beat the gorgeous beauty in portraying evil characters. It would be interesting to see her in a negative role in her debut movie in Malayalam.
On the professional front, the actress has been missing from the big screen for quite some time now and was last seen in ‘Miss Shetty Mr. Polishetty’. Apart from Kathanar, the actress has a couple of more movies in her kitty.
However, fans are waiting for her to collaborate with Rebel star Prabhas for another high-budget movie.
